NOAH'S ARC 31.7.06

Everything you need to know, you can learn from Noah's Ark.

ONE: Don't miss the boat.

TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.

THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

SIX: Build your future on high ground.

SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.

TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Chapter 11

The Book Has the Answer

A man has been in business for many, many years and the business is going down the drain. He doesn't know what to do and is seriously contemplating suicide. He goes to the Rabbi to seek his advice. He tells the Rabbi about all of his problems in the business and asks the Rabbi what he should do. The Rabbi says, "Take a beach chair and a Bible and put them in your car and drive down to the edge of the ocean. Go to the water's edge. Take the beach chair out of the car, sit on it and take the Bible out and open it up. The wind will rifle the pages for a while and eventually the Bible will stay open at a particular page. Read the Bible and it will tell you what to do."The man does as he is told. He places a beach chair and a Bible in his car and drives down to the beach. He sits on the chair at the water's edge and opens the Bible. The wind rifles the pages of the Bible and then stops at a particular page. He looks down at the Bible and sees what he has to do.

Three months later the man and his family come back to see the Rabbi. The man is wearing a $1,000 Italian suit. The wife is all decked out with a full-length mink coat and the child is dressed in beautiful silk. The man hands the Rabbi a thick envelope full of money and tells him that he wants to donate this money to the synagogue in order to thank the Rabbi for his wonderful advice. The Rabbi is delighted. He recognizes the man and asks him what advice in the Bible brought this good fortune to him. The man replies: "Chapter 11."

Note: If you do not know what Chapter 11 is, it is the legal procedure for declaring bankruptcy.

MOSHE READING AN ARAB NEWSPAPER

Moshe Reads an Arab Newspaper

A story is told of a Jewish man who was riding on the subway reading an Arab newspaper. A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same subway car, noticed this strange phenomenon. Very upset, he approached the newspaper reader.

"Moshe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading an Arab newspaper?"Moshe replied, "I used to read the Jewish newspaper, but what did I find? Jews being persecuted, Israel being attacked, Jews disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage, Jews living in poverty. So I switched to the Arab newspaper. Now what do I find? Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are all rich and powerful, Jews rule the world. The news is so much better!"

ABRAHAM LINCOLN

American President Abraham Lincoln was known for patience. One day his Secretary of War, Edwin Stantol, sought his advice regarding a heated conflict with an army general. The general had accused Santol of favoritism. Santol complained to Lincoln, who advised, "Tell him in a letter how you feel." Santol wrote a strongly-worded letter and showed it to Lincoln. Lincoln acknowledged his ability for the powerful language used, then asked, "Edwin, what are you going to do with it?" Santol was surprised at the question, but said calmly, "I will send it to the general." Lincoln shook his head with disapproval and said, "Do not send this letter. It is better if you burn it in the stove. That is what I do when I write letters when I am angry. It is definitely a good letter, and you had a nice time writing it. You feel better. Now please burn it and write another letter."

Actually, the Middle East Is Our Crisis Too
The war is now part of the global conflict between the U.S. and radical Islam
By CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER

Something radically new is emerging in the Middle East: the century-old Arab-Israeli dispute has been transmuted from a nationalist to a religious war. And as a result, the Arab-Israeli wars are now merging into the global conflict between radical Islam and the West.

The transformation was swift in coming. Hamas' electoral landslide in Palestine just six months ago marked the political death of Yasser Arafat and the secular, vaguely socialist and entirely nationalist movement he represented. Hamas is fighting not to create a 23rd Arab state but, as its charter explains, to recover "an Islamic Waqf." Meaning? Territory claimed under the Islamic precept that "any land the Muslims have conquered by force ... during the times of [Islamic] conquests" more than a millennium ago belongs to Muslims forever because "the Muslims consecrated these lands to Muslim generations until the Day of Judgment."

In the first period of the Arab-Israeli dispute, Israel was at war with pan-Arabism, the idea of essential Arab unity across states and the rejection of any non-Arab state in their region. Pan-Arabism was humiliated by Israel's six-day victory in the 1967 war. The subsequent death of Egyptian President Nasser, who instigated that disaster, accelerated pan-Arabism's decline. Its final collapse occurred when its last great proponent, Saddam Hussein, was swept away in 2003. The successor Arab rulers no longer dream of a single Arab state and have grudgingly come to accept a small Jewish state in part of Palestine. Hence the peace treaties that Egypt and Jordan signed with Israel.

As pan-Arabism declined, pan-Islamism rose in its place. Hence Islamist Hizballah--client of Islamist Iran, ally of Islamist Hamas--provokes a war with Israel. Hizballah's motivation has nothing to do with Arab nationalism. Israel withdrew from every square meter of Lebanese territory six years ago. But legal obligation means nothing to Hizballah. Like Hamas and Iran, Hizballah views the destruction of Israel as a religious obligation.

Moreover, Hizballah times its attack on Israel to suit the needs of its Iranian patron, about to be subject to sanctions by the West for its nuclear ambitions. Those ambitions, in turn, are meant to serve Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's even larger Islamist vision of a cataclysmic showdown with the infidel West as a harbinger of the return of the 12th Imam and the End of Days.

But it gets more complicated still. The Iran-Hizballah-Hamas axis is not the only church of Islamism. Enter Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's No. 2, rushing to keep up with the mob, the mob that is now scandalously led by Persian and Shi'ite Iran. On behalf of Sunni and Arab al-Qaeda--just yesterday the champion of all things radically Muslim and anti-Western--al-Zawahiri last week issued a call for all Muslims to rise up against Israel.

Now Palestine was never at the top of al-Qaeda's list of grievances. In al-Qaeda's 1998 declaration of war on the U.S., Palestine is a distant third. But with Iran, through Hamas and Hizballah, having seized leadership of the jihad against the Jews, al-Qaeda could not stand by and allow its Islamist primacy to be eclipsed by the mullahs of Tehran.

To Western eyes, the spectacle is bizarre, not seen since the Catholic Church six centuries ago sported rival Popes, one in Rome, one in Avignon. Our only near contemporary experience of dueling churches occurred in the 1960s and '70s, when the Soviet Union and China competed for the title of most authentic communist and for the allegiance of client states and guerrilla groups around the world. On 9/11, al-Qaeda bestrode the world of radical Islam. Al-Zawahiri simply had to show up at the scene of the latest Arab-Israeli fighting lest Iran usurp al-Qaeda's hard-earned mantle.

For all their medieval trappings, these two sources of Islamic fervor now vying for possession of the newly transmuted Arab-Israeli dispute confirm the Bush Administration's view that, after a holiday from history in the 1990s, the global ideological struggles of the 20th century have been rejoined with a change only in the cast. In place of the ersatz Western religions of fascism and communism, radical Islam, bastard child of a real and great religion, has arisen. Led by two rival Vaticans, one in Tehran and the other cavebound on the Afghan-Pakistani border, it raises the banner of a militant religion that will not rest until, as al-Zawahiri pledged, Islam has retaken every piece of Waqf "from Spain to Iraq."

Yes, Spain--conquered by Islam in the 8th century, lost to Christianity in 1492. That's a long way from Haifa, from Lebanon, from Baghdad and even from Mecca. It's an even longer way from rationality, which is why the struggle against it will be long and painful, and enduringly surreal.

HINDUISM AND other religions IN iNDIA

V SUNDARAM
06-Jul-2006
News Today

The first glimpse of the Jesus of the Gospels came to me when I joined as Sub Collector in Pollachi in the erstwhile unbifurcated Coimbatore District of Tamilnadu in 1967. I had gone to a remote village incognito for a confidential inquiry. An enthusiastic and young Christian Pastor tried to convert me and failed in the attempt. Vaguely I remember that the following type of dialogue took place between us:

Pastor: You believe that Jesus was an Avatar or incarnation?

Myself: Yes, I do.

Pastor: Can an Avatar tell a lie?

Myself: He is not supposed to.

Pastor: What if Jesus says he is the only God.

Myself: He can't say that.

My Pastor friend immediately picked up a copy of the New Testament and read out several passages from the Gospels. He tried to convince me that Jesus did say in so many words not only that he was the only God, but also that those who did not accept his claim would burn for ever in the infernal pit. In a flash I realised with painful surprise that Jesus was not all 'Sermon on the Mount' as I had been led to believe by his Hindu votaries including Mahatma Gandhi.

Hindus of India are committing a grave mistake in regarding the encounter between Hinduism and Christianity as a dialogue between two religions. Christianity has never been a religion; its long history tells us that it has always been a predatory imperialism 'par excellence'. The encounter, therefore, should be viewed as a battle between two totally opposed and mutually exclusive ways of thought and behaviour. In the language of the Bhagavat Gita (Chapter XVI) it is war between Daivi (Divine) and Asuri Sampads (demonic propensities). In the mundane context of history, it can be described as war between the Vedic and the Biblical traditions.

I have often been bewildered by the fact as to why we Hindus have always remained preoccupied with the behaviour patterns of Muslims and Christians and not with the belief systems which create those behaviour patterns. We object to Christian Missions, but refuse to discuss Christianity and its God, Jesus. We object to Islamic terrorism, but refuse to have a look at Islam and its Prophet, Mohammed. I see no sense or logic in this Hindu spirit. We appeal to the Christian Missionaries in the name of Jesus and ask them not to do what they have been doing. We appeal to the Muslims in the name of Mohammed and ask them to stop doing what they have been doing. In this process, we have invented a 'real' Jesus and a 'true' Christianity. We have also invented a 'real' Mohammed and a 'true' Islam. The Missionary smiles and the Mullah also smiles at our invention; both the Missionary and the Mullah go ahead with their work of conversion, making good use of our soft-headedness.

Last month I had written an article on State-abetted, State-aided, State-sponsored and State-sustained evangelism on stilts in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the Temple Town of Tirupati. I had gone to the extent of stating that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Y. Samuel Rajasekara Reddy, who is himself a Seventh Day Adventist, is playing the role of a Christian crusader of the 12th century. Apart from the reports relating to threats of terrorist attacks, the Lord Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala, synonymous with Hindu Religion is under threat from some powerful insidious international forces. The State Government of Andhra Pradesh is playing the role that was played by Mohammed of Gazini in Somnath in Gujarat in the first quarter of the 11th century! The other forces are represented by the monotheistic faiths of global Christianity and global Islam. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is taking advantage of the overarching super umbrella of global Roman Catholicis!
m hanging over the effete UPA Government. In short, Tirumala Hills and Lord Venkateswara are under the siege of Andhra Pradesh Government under the Generalissimo of Dr. Y. Samuel Rajasekara Reddy who is waging a missionary war against the pagan Gods of Heathenish Hinduism.

In this context I cannot help quoting the precise and sharp words of Sita Ram Goel: 'It is high time for Hindus to dismiss the dogma of Christianity with the contempt it deserves and pay attention to the Christian Missionary apparatus planted in their midst. The sole aim of this missionary apparatus is to ruin Hindu society and culture and take over the Hindu Homeland. It goes on devising strategies for every situation, favourable and unfavourable. It trains and employs a large number of intellectual criminals ready to prostitute their talents in the service of their pay masters, and adept at dressing up dark designs in a high-sounding language.'

What is happening in Andhra Pradesh should not be viewed as an isolated incident or a localised phenomenon in a particular State. I have received terrible news from Kerala that evangelical money power is being used to import some young men and women from the United States for purposes of proselytism in the southern districts of Tamilnadu and Kerala. This is how the authorities of a Christian missionary organisation called the 'Adventures in Mission' explain themselves and their fantastic trips to India. They call for young practising Christians between the age of 15-20 and who have been Christians for at least six months to join them on this trip. Their training camps for conversions take place in Atlanta in USA. Their aim is to take advantage of the natural disasters area in and around Tenkasi in Tirunelveli District in Tamilnadu. They bring in groups of conversion activists and make them preach to the poor people of this area. They warn the participants not to be t!
aken in by the Christians of that area because they are only Christians by name and they still follow the pagan Hindu culture. They say the groups' aim is to create a body of true Christians 'who will forsake the dominant pagan Hindu culture of India forever'.

Even before they set out for India, a very clear message is given to the trainees (Harvesters of Souls) as follows: 'You will fly into Trivandrum on the southern tip of Kerala. After a city tour you will be taken to Tenkasi in Tamilnadu. You will be stationed here. Be ready for hard floors on which you will be sleeping in local schools and orphanages. Local food will be served which is very spicy. Modesty is required; you cannot wear tank tops or sleeveless clothes. You need to go for a training camp before you are ready for this adventurous trip. You need to get visit visas and a whole lot of vaccinations before you come to this contaminated area. The cost is a mere 4000USD. The results will be a great service to the Christian world as you will be HARVESTING SOULS. It will be a soul fulfilling Christian adventure of Christian faith in Heathen Lands for bringing 'sons of the devil' into the fold of Angelic Christianity.'

Haindava Keralam is a new voluntary organization which has been recently established to protect the interests of Hindu society, Hindu culture and Hindu religion against the onslaught of Christian missionaries and Muslim Mullahs in Kerala. Haindava Keralam has requested all its supporters in US to warn the Indian Embassy in Washington of the anti-national activities of 'Adventures in Mission' and to request the Indian Ambassador in USA to deny visas for the participants of this group.

Government of India should make it clear that the visit visa granted by the Government of India is strictly for visiting our country, admiring the scenic locations and enjoying our culture and tradition. These visitors must be told that their Visa is not for conversion activities or any kind of religious propaganda in any part of India. Such activities are against the law and if this group lands in Kerala or any South Indian state or elsewhere, a close watch would be kept over their conduct and activities. The group should be told that stringent action will be taken against them for all unlawful activities, connected with conversion or proselytism.

One of my Roman Catholic friends often refers to Harijan coverts as 'POWDER MILK CHRISTIANS', and there is no doubt that these people ? the poorest of the poor ?? are attracted by the missionaries' promises to feed their bodies, rather than the prospect of spiritual nourishment or spiritual salvation. On the aspect of Christian Missionary subterfuge in India, Sita Ram Goel in his incisive work, 'CATHOLIC ASHRAMS-SANYASINS OR SWINDLERS', has clearly brought to light the manner in which this nefarious activity is being carried out in different parts of India. Since Independence, the 'HARVESTERS' no longer have the support of the Union Jack. But instead they have the stronger support of the secular Government of India. In post-independent India, their methods have changed, but their 'objectives haven't'.

To conclude in the incisively brilliant words of my Think-Tank friend Capt. Balakrishnan: 'Since the days of the 'RAJ', missionary efforts to 'HARVEST SOULS' has followed a certain modus operandi: First, denigrate Hinduism and its Gods. Second, target the poor and illiterate sections of Hindu society by offering material inducements. Third, resort to subterfuge on gullible Hindus to 'HARVEST THEIR SOULS' with Christian compassion, evangelical energy and ecumenical enthusiasm'.

PROTEST AGAINST OBSCENE DESCRIPTION OF HINDU DEITIES BY IGNOU

Proud Hindu protests against obscene description of Hindu deities by IGNOU

Posted on 25 July, 2006
Shri Swapnil Joshi , a proud Hindu has protested about obscene description about Hindu deities by IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University)in their text books. He has asked for an apology and indicated protest action if not complied with.See below the correspeondence**(Congratulations to Shri. Swapnil Joshi for the protest. Persons like Sachin are the real strength of Hindu Dharma. Hindus can take a leaf out of this example - Editor)

* OBSCENE DENIGRATION OF HINDU DEITIES IN THE TEXT BOOKS OF IGNOU

In one of the text books of IGNOU, the book named 'The Contemplation and Sincerity of Religion in India' obscene material is published about Hindu deities, Lord Shiva, Shree Durgadevi, Lord Krishna etc.The Central Minsiter for Labour Shri Arjun Singh has ordered for the removal of this material from the book.
The Manager of IGNOU Shri. Swaraj Bose has made very shameful remarks on this. He says 'Do not our students need to know about the real nature of our Sanatan Dharma. There are so many fights occurring on account of religion presently".

After reading this if Hindu's blood does not boil than they are not at all Hindus. Hindus recollect the uprising and riots done by the Muslim throughout the world during the issue of Prophet. Do you not feel like punishing the individuals who denigrate our deities?

Ex labour Minister Shri Murli Manohar Joshi has expressed his reaction by saying that "The government is playing with the sentiments of Hindus.Such insults will not be tolerated".

The Examples of Denigration in the book

1. Page number 29: Lord Shankar was a sage person in nude. He was one performing penance and sexual. He used to spoil the characters of the wives of those penance performers and Gods. He was dangerous as well as useful. He was destructive and well as creative.

2. Page number:22' The characters of Gods are doubtful

3. Page number 27: 'Lord Krishna inspite of being clever acted cunning in the war.

4. Page number 32: Shree Durgadevi likes liquor. She consumed liquor during the killing of demon Mahishashura. She is a Goddess with negative quality energy. Male enemies get allured towards her and get desirous of marrying her. It was clearly stated by her family that one who defeats her in the war will be married to her. On which she asked that How can I fight against my lover? The enemies of Durgadevi used to come with the message of love. Durgadevi is the Goddess of beauty .

FUNDRAISER FOR LASHKAR E TAIBA

Meet the Lashkar-e-Tayiba's fundraiser

PTI | July 28, 2006 | 12:02 IST

The Anti-Terrorism Squad on Friday said one of those arrested on Thursday for suspected links with the Lashkar-e-Tayiba could well be the fundraiser of the terrorist outfit in Mumbai.

Faizal Sheikh, who was arrested on Thursday night along with his brother Muzammil could also be crucial for cracking the case, ATS sources said.

Faizal allegedly used the hawala mode to acquire funds from Pakistan and the Middle east, sources said.

The ATS will seek the help of Central agencies to probe the hawala racket that helped Faizal transfer funds for the illegal activities. some arrests in this connection are also likely, ATS sources said.

Mumbai Crime Branch officials who picked up Faizal, a resident of Mira Road in nearby Thane district and his Bangalore-based software programmer brother Muzammil, said that Faizal and Dr Tanvir Ansari -- an LeT suspect who was arrested last week -- were motivators of the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir-based terrorist outfit and were active in Mumbai.

It was Faizal who motivated Ansari to undergo training at LeT camps in Pakistan and PoK and arranged the visit with the help of his brother Muzammil, sources said.

Subsequently, Ansari also started motivating people to join LeT training, some of them being the arrested LeT suspects including Jamir Sheikh of Mumbai and Sohail Sheikh of Pune, they said.

"Given the level of access Faizal had in the LeT hierarchy, it is possible that he was aware of LeT activities in Mumbai and around, including the plan of the untraced LeT module to execute serial bomb blasts on Mumbai suburban trains," ATS sources said.

They added that some hawala operators from Mumbai and Gujarat are likely to be questioned to ascertain if money was sent into India by suspected LeT operatives or sympathizers from abroad.

ATS sources, while admitting that they are nowhere close to nab the real perpetrators of the serial blasts, said their hopes now rest on the interrogation of Faizal, Muzammil and Tanvir Ansari, with the three most likely to have knowledge of what other LeT modules were planning in Mumbai, if not aware of the entire blasts plan.

Nearly 200 persons were killed and over 700 injured in the seven serial train blasts that took place inside first class compartments of suburban trains of Western Railway on July 11.

Eight suspected LeT members have been arrested so far in the case by a joint team of ATS and Mumbai Crime Branch.

INDIA IS THE 125TH HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

India is the 125th happiest country in the world

PTI | July 28, 2006 | 11:08 IST

India is the 125th happiest country in the world, a British scientist who has prepared a world map of happiness has claimed.

Denmark is the happiest country in the world and Burundi in Africa is the most unhappy as per the map produced by Adrian White, Analytic Social Psychologist at the University of Leicester.

According to the study, happiness is found to be most closely associated with health, followed by wealth and education.

China is happier than India with an 82nd position while Japan is placed at 90.

'We were surprised to see countries in Asia scoring so low, with China 82nd, Japan 90th and India 125th. These are countries that are thought as having a strong sense of collective identity which other researchers have associated with well-being,' a University of Leicester release said.

'It is also notable that many of the largest countries in terms of population do quite badly. With China 82nd, India 125th and Russia 167th it is interesting to note that larger populations are not associated with happy countries,' it said.

Switzerland, Austria and Iceland follow Denmark in the map of happiness. It places United States at 23, UK at 41 and France at 62.

The study is based on data from 178 countries and on the findings of over 100 different studies around the world, which questioned 80,000 people. Participants were asked questions related to happiness and satisfaction with life.

White analysed data published by the CIA, UNESCO, WHO and the likes to create a global project of subjective well-being: the first world map of happiness.

The projection, which is to be published in a psychology journal this September, will be presented at a conference later this year.

Adrian White said: "The concept of happiness, or satisfaction with life, is currently a major area of research in economics and psychology, most closely associated with new developments in positive psychology. It has also become a feature in the current political discourse in the UK.

"There is increasing political interest in using measures of happiness as a national indicator in conjunction with measures of wealth. A recent BBC survey found that 81 per cent of the population think the government should focus on making us happier rather than wealthier.

"Further analysis showed that a nation's level of happiness was most closely associated with health levels (correlation of .62), followed by wealth (.52) and then provision of education (.51).

"There is a belief that capitalism leads to unhappy people. However, when people are asked if they are happy with their lives, people in countries with good healthcare, a higher GDP per capita, and access to education were much more likely to report being happy.

"The frustrations of modern life, and the anxieties of the age, seem to be much less significant compared to the health, financial and educational needs in other parts of the world. The current concern with happiness levels in the UK may well be a case of the 'worried well', the study said.

Hindus, their own worst enemies

and are afraid even to speak up, when continual violence is perpetrated by Moslems against them.

Ms. Tawleen Singh's observation is completely correct. Fellow Hindus just
start boycotting you if they find out that you are a pro-Hindu person. This
is not true just in journalistic circles, but pretty much everywhere. Hindus
are self-hating, for the most part. It is most unfortunate, but true. Alas,
we just have to keep doing what we do without much expectations. Like Sri
Krishna advises us to - do your karma, and leave the rest to me.

I would be damned if I knew why is there so much stigma against loving their
own religion for a Hindu. The centuries of slavery forced upon us by the
Muslim invaders and European imperialists should, in fact, inculcate an
attitude to defy the very people who did this to us. Instead, we look upon
them. Hindus are the ultimate slaves, I am sorry to say.

Hindus are the enemies of Hindus, not Muslims or Christians. The day we
start respecting ourselves, they would too.

Regards,
Reema.

Good evening my child

It’s good to see you

I'm not your child

So you belong to the "other" one eh?

I belong to "the one"

Whatever

Many are under that illusion but they are really mine

Even the "other" one's son said many will say

"Lord, Lord didn’t we do miracles in your name?"

and He said, "Go away, you workers of iniquity

I never knew you."

Well, I sure knew them

If I have many who work miracles

can you imagine how many I have

who don't work miracles

Well I'm not one of those.

That's what “they” thought

I can see into your heart

you're one of mine

You're known as the father of lies

the great deceiver

I know not to believe you

I lie when it suits me

I tell the truth when it suits me

I'm at least honest about that

You people rationalize

and make up excuses when you lie

You look different than I expected

you're actually rather good looking

What sense does it make to scare people?

I may be evil but Remember,

I was the most subtle creature

in the garden

Disguise is a great tool

I kill over ten times more people

each year with cigarettes

than 357's, 38's, 22's, 45's,

9mm's, and rifles combined

People are afraid of all those guns

but no one is afraid of one of my greatest killers

That’s my great power of illusion and deception

One of your greatest killers

how many do you have?

More than you can imagine

I have killers that kill the body,

the mind, and the spirit

Do you know how many marriages I break up?

And the fools don't even know that it’s me

How do you do that?

Simple,

I just make them think about themselves

MORE than each other

Pride and self centeredness

has always been one of my greatest tools

Don’t you know that you are defeated?

Don’t you know that you can’t win?

So

I’ve been here for thousands of years

and even by your book I’ve got many more

Many who live under my rule

know they’ll spend eternity burning in hell

If you humans are willing to sacrifice

all of eternity for a few decades of living it up

imagine how I feel about a few thousand years

Of course that “living it up” is my greatest illusion

I promise them bliss with

sex

drugs

alcohol

dishonestly

and many gratifications of the flesh

It lasts an average of 26 months before the futility

and misery begins to set in

26 months

where did you get that figure from?

Thousands of years of experience

Believe me, I know what I’m talking about

Besides, I may get defeated in the end

but I’ll still have more souls than the other one

a lot more

even your book says that

so who really wins?

But why do you like to make people miserable

and cause so much pain and destruction?

Sometimes I get more credit than I deserve

Some of you can be just as mean and hurtful as me

I don’t do all of that stuff

Much of that is from human flesh and the spirit of humans

Look at how many brothers and sisters are at each other’s throats

not speaking to each other

Kids hate parents and each other

I’m good at causing chaos

but I must admit

Human nature can get pretty low without my help

But you used to be an angel

why the big change?

That’s a long story

you wouldn’t fully understand

let’s just say

I got tired of taking orders

I didn’t want to be under anyone’s authority

I wanted to do my own thing

I wanted to be boss

Then again, maybe you would understand

Haven’t you ever felt like that?

Well haven’t you?

We are not interviewing me

we are interviewing you

Touched a nerve huh?

That little bit of not wanting to take orders

and wanting to self determine my own life

was my first step away from “the other one.”

Since it got me away

I use that same spirit on humans to get them away too

I just take a little of me and infuse it in

I’ve put that little bit of me in everyone

only a fool denies that

So what’s next

what are you planning now

I’m really planning a major shakeup

I’ve got some real nasty things cooking

I think I will be able to cause some heavy world destruction

Oh

you mean all of the international strife

and turmoil that’s happening

Nope, that’s the distraction

I’m real good at distractions

Sure

I’m causing some major world problems

but that isn’t what is really affecting most people

Beyond what they see in the news

and few price hikes here and there

it isn’t really impacting their world all that much

The major stuff I’m brewing messes up “their” world

not the international world

Fools are worrying about nations not getting along

and I have them not getting along with the people in the office

I’ve got them at war with the people they see everyday

I have them at war with the people under the same roof

I even have them at war with the person in the same bed

By the way

have you seen how I’ve really influenced who the other person

in the bed is these days?

I’m really proud of that

You see

the stuff they see on the news is the distraction

Your book says,

“Love thy neighbor”

not love thy “other nations”

I’ve got them hating their neighbor and the other nations too

Boy I’m good!

But why do you cause all of this destruction?

Have you ever squashed a bug?

I’m not talking about a mosquito that could bite you

or an insect that could sting you

but just an insect that could do you no harm

but you just squashed it for the heck of it

Well

have you ever squashed one

for the heck of it?

Or shall I say

for the hell of it?

Well have you?

I guess so

Well multiply that pleasure a million times over

I love squashing lives

hopes

dreams

joy

peace

life

health

prosperity

and harmony

I just love it!

Bugs

that’s the way I view all of you

helpless bugs to be squashed

Are you going to let me out of here

to tell people about your plans?

I mean if you are exposed people will get wise to you

I’m not going to stop you

you can’t harm me or my plans

I’ve been exposed from the beginning

your book says so

Plus

if you’ve been reading your book

and if you truly aren’t mine you’d know that I can’t stop you

I only have power over my people

not His

I’m nothing but “The Evil,”

shorten my name

from D’Evil

to simply Devil

and that’s what I am

People have always known my nature

One hundred forty two million three hundred fourteen thousand

seven hundred and sixty two people

have committed adultery this year

All but three knew that it was wrong

so go ahead

tell them and see what good it does

They already know in their hearts what is right and wrong.

The “other” one wrote His commands in their heart

I just put a little of me in there also

I’ve got you humans and I ain’t letting go of you

but then most of you don’t want to let go of me either

I told you

I’m good at what I do

So what about Jesus

aren’t you afraid of Him?

Why should I be?

Look at the score

even He said it

“for wide is the gate, and broad is the way,

that leadeth to destruction

(destruction, that’s me)

and many there be which go in thereat:

Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way

which leadeth unto life

(life, that’s Him)

and few there be that find it.”

Notice that He said

“many would enter my path but few would even find His.”

Let me tell you something

everyone who finds His path still doesn’t enter

I get a lot of them standing at gate

knowing the way but undecided and still trapped

and unwilling to let go of my illusions

Oh yeah

I get a lot of them like that

You see

Finding and entering are two different things

When you add the score

I’ve got a wide path coming to me

That would be the equivalent

of an eight lane highway at rush hour

He has a narrow path coming to Him

that’s the equivalent of a small trail up a mountain

with only a few travelers every now and then

so why should I be afraid of Him?

But you get destroyed in the end

So

I will have reigned for thousands of years

and I’m going to take most of you with me

Don’t you have any mercy?

Mercy ain’t my thing

Never has been

never will be

that’s His thing

The only thing I’ve got is the illusion

that I can solve your problems

and bring you bliss

That illusion has been working

for thousands of years and it’s not slowing down

I tempt you puny humans with all of the stuff

of this world

Stuff that rots

and falls apart

and you fools keep falling for it

I’m going to expose this to thousands of people!

I’m going to expose you for what you are!

I’ll make people see!

You’ll expose this to thousands

maybe even millions

but I’ll tell you what will happen

They will enjoy it

some will say “amen,”

some will forward it to others

but they won’t change

For each three thousand four hundred and twenty-two

who are mine who see this

only ONE will change

only ONE

You fool! Only one will change

I will keep the others

I also know this from experience

I’ve got and will keep most of you

ONE in 3,422!

I keep 3,421!

So what have you got to say about that?

Jesus already said it

"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven

over ONE sinner who repents

than over ninety-nine just persons

who need no repentance.”

(Luke 15:7 NKJV)

DARK SKIN AND CANCER

BBC NEWS
Dark skin 'does not block cancer'
Contrary to common perception, people with dark skin are more likely to die from skin cancer than those with fairer skin, warn US researchers.

Although the disease is less common, when it does occur it is typically more aggressive and diagnosed later, which leads to more deaths, they explain.

The Cincinnati University work is a warning to anyone who wrongly assumes skin tone makes some immune to cancers.

Experts advise people of all races to protect their skin from sun damage.

Misconception

Lead researcher Dr Hugh Gloster said: "There's a perception that people with darker skin don't have to worry about skin cancer, but that's not true.

"Minorities do get skin cancer, and because of this false perception most cases aren't diagnosed until they are more advanced and difficult to treat.

"Unfortunately, that translates into higher mortality rates."

He said it was true that the extra pigment in darker skin did afford some added protection against the sun's harmful UV rays and that darker skin is, therefore, less susceptible to sunburn.

But he said this should not lull people with darker skin into a false sense of security.

Dark skin has increased epidermal melanin which provides a natural skin protection factor (SPF) - a measure of how long skin covered with sunscreen takes to burn compared with uncovered skin.

Very dark, black skin has a natural SPF of about 13 and filters twice as much UV radiation as white skin, for example.

Sun protection

However, health experts advise people to use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15.

Dr Gloster told a meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in San Diego that doctors should make sure that all of their patients, regardless of race, use sunscreen and self-check for skin cancers.

This study shows that even people with darker skin need to be aware of the signs of skin cancer
Ed Yong, cancer information officer at Cancer Research UK

Malignant melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer, can present differently in different races.

Fairer-skinned people may notice a change in a sun-exposed mole, whilst darker-skinned people might develop the cancer on areas protected from the sun such as the soles of the feet.

There are over 70,000 new cases of skin cancer diagnosed each year in the UK, making it the most common type of cancer.

Ed Yong, cancer information officer at Cancer Research UK, said: "This study shows that even people with darker skin need to be aware of the signs of skin cancer.

"Although those most at risk of skin cancer are people with fair skin, lots of moles or freckles or a family history of the disease, it is also important for black people to check their skin regularly.

"Black people are most likely to develop skin cancers on the palms of their hands or the soles of their feet.

"Checking your skin for unusual changes is crucial as it can mean that the disease can be spotted earlier, when it is easier to treat."

TIRUPATHI TEMPLE

1. Tirupati Update Includes Declaration by Sadhus

www.dailyindia.com

TIRUPATI, INDIA, July 19, 2006: After allegations were made that employees at Lord Venkateswara temple may be assisting Christians in their evangelical activities within the temple compound, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam which manages the temple ordered all 10,000 employees to start wearing the Tilak on their forehead. Even though the TTD conducted an investigation into the allegations and found no evidence of employees cooperating with Christians in their proselytizing, the TTD was pressured into taking action that would prevent any employees from entertaining any ideas by having them firmly commit to their faith. TTD's executive officer A.P.V.N. Sharma said that non-Hindu employees would be transferred to non-temple departments.

HPI adds: In a related development, Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a group of all Mathadhipatis Headed by H. H. Vishveshwara Thirtha Shripadaru Pejawar Math and other sadhus, in a meeting at Tirupathi on July 15, 2006, issued the following declaration. "We Hindus assembled here declare that we do not support directly or indirectly any group, institution, religion, media or political force which preaches, practices or works against Hindu Dharma in this country. We appeal to all Hindus in this country and elsewhere to subscribe to and support this declaration, the Tirupathi Declaration. We want all the Hindu Religious endowments to be managed by Hindu Bodies, and not by the Government. We want the Secular Government to release all religious endowments from its hold."

Cherokee wisdom

Cherokee Wisdom

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes
on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves'
inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow,
regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment inferiority,
lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and
faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

MSG FROM BOMBAYKERS TO THE TERRORISTS

Dear Terrorist,

Even if you are not reading this we don't care. Time and again you tried to
disturb us and disrupt our life - killing innocent civilians by planting
bombs in trains, buses and cars. You have tried hard to bring death and
destruction, cause panic and fear and create communal disharmony but
everytime you were disgustingly unsuccessful. Do you know how we pass our
life in Mumbai? How much it takes for us to earn that single rupee? If you
wanted to give us a shock then we are sorry to say that you failed miserably
in your ulterior motives. Better look elsewere, not here.

We are not Hindus and Muslims or Gujaratis and Marathis or
Punjabis and
Bengaliies. Nor do we distinguish ourselves as owners or workers, govt.
employees or private employees. WE ARE MUMBAIKERS (Bombay-ites, if you
like). We will not allow you to disrupt our life like this. On the last few
occassions when you struck (including the 7 deadly blasts in a single day
killing over 250 people and injuring 500+ in 1993), we went to work next day
in full strength. This time we cleared everything within a few hours and
were back to normal - the vendors placing their next order, businessmen
finalizing the next deals and the office workers rushing to catch the next
train. (Yes the same train you targetted)

Fathom this: Within 3 hours of the 7 blasts, long queues of blood donating
volunteers were seen outside various hospital, where most of the injured
were admitted. By 12 midnight, the hospital had to issue a notification that
blood banks were full and they didn't require any more blood. The next day,
attendance at schools and office was close to 100%, trains & buses were
packed to the brim, the crowds were back.
The city has simply dusted itself off and moved
one - perhaps with greater
vigour.

We are Mumbaikers and we live like brothers in times like this. So, do not
dare to threaten us with your crackers. The spirit of Mumbai is very strong
and can not be harmed.

Please forward this to others. U never know, by chance it may come to hands
of a terrorist in Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iraq and he can then read this
message which is specially meant for him!!!

With Love,
From the people of Mumbai (Bombay)

NATIONAL ANTHEM

National Anthem

How well do u know about it?

I have always wondered who is the "adhinayak" and
"bharat bhagya vidhata", whose praise we are singing.
I thought may be God! Our current National Anthem
"Jana Gana Mana" is sung throughout the country. Did
you know the following about our national anthem, i
didn't. To begin with, India's national anthem, Jana
Gana Mana Adhinayaka, was written by Rabindranath
Tagore in honor of King George V and the Queen of
England when they visited India in 1919. To honor
their visit Pundit Motilal Nehru had the five stanzas
included, which are in praise of the King and
Queen.(And most of us think it is in the praise of our
great motherland!!!)

In the original Bengali verses only those provinces
that were under British rule, i.e. Punjab, Sindh,
Gujarat,Maratha .. etc. were mentioned. None of the
princely states were recognized which are integral
parts of India now - Kashmir,Rajasthan, Andhra, Mysore
or Kerala. Neither the Indian ocean nor the Arabian
Sea were included, since they were directly under
Portuguese rule at that time.

The Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka implies that King George
V is the lord of the masses and Bharata Bhagya Vidhata
is "the bestower of good fortune for Bharat".

Following is a translation of the five stanzas which
glorify the King:

1st stanza (Indian)People wake up remembering your
good name and ask for your blessings and they sing
your glories.

2nd stanza Around your throne people of all religions
come and give their love and anxiously wait to hear
your kind words.

3rd stanza Praise to the King for being the
charioteer, for leading the ancient travelers beyond
misery.

4th stanza Drowned in the deep ignorance and
suffering, poverty stricken, unconscious country?
waiting for the wink of your eye and your mother's
(the Queen's) true protection.

5th stanza In your compassionate plans, the sleeping
Bharat (India) will wake up. We bow down to your feet
O' Queen, and glory to Rajeshwara (the King).

This whole poem does not indicate any love for the
Motherland but depicts a bleak picture. When you sing
Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka, whom are you glorifying?
Certainly not the Motherland. Is it God?

The poem does not indicate that.

It is time now to understand the original purpose and
the implication of this, rather than blindly sing as
has been done the past fifty years. Nehru chose the
present national anthem as opposed to Vande Mataram
because he thought that it would be easier for the
band to play. It was an absurd reason but Today for
that matter bands have advanced and they can very well
play any music. So they can as well play Vande
Mataram, which is a far better composition in praise
of our dear Motherland -India.

Wake up, it's high time! Vande Mataram should be our
National Anthem.

AD. AAZMI

Adv. Shaheed Aazmi's matter of labelling Hanuman and Shivaji Maharaj as terrorists

Bar Council Will investigate matter on H.J.S. complaint
Mumbai : Adv. Shaheed Aazmi who took up of the case of terrorists of LeT terrorist group caught in Mumbai in the month of January had passed derogatory remarks about Lord Hanuman and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and insulted them in courthouse. Taking serious cognizance of this Hindu Janjagruti Samiti demanded action to be taken by The D.G. of Police and the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa against Adv. Aazmi.

The Bar Council has sent a letter dated 12th june 2006 to the H.J.S. stating that they have taken cognizance of the matter. In the letter recd. by Samiti on 24th July, Bar Council Secretary Adv. Varsha Rokade, have said that in the meeting of the Bar Council on 30th April 2006 they have taken cognizance of the letter sent by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and the matter is reffered for enquiry. Adv. Aazmi in the courthouse had said that 'I myself am an extreme terrorist who has undergone sentence, but Hanuman and Shivaji are also terrorists' which was published in Daily 'Samana' on 19 th January 2006. There was a wave of protest among Hindus on account of insult of the Hindu God Hanuman and National figure Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

DON'T BLAME PAKISTAN, LOOK WITHIN

Subject: Don’t blame Pakistan, look withIN

Am I the only one disturbed by a minister in Mulayam Singh Yadav's government asking for a Muslim Pradesh in western Uttar Pradesh? Is there nobody in Dr Manmohan Singh's Cabinet who thinks this a worrying development? It seems that way. Two days after The Times of India reported Azam Khan's demand, Dr Manmohan Singh and his Cabinet met and discussed the following subjects. The Sixth Pay Commission, cultural cooperation with Ireland, ties with Fiji, the protection of tigers and amendments to the Right to Information Act. Not one word about the dangerously divisive demand by one of Mulayam's senior colleagues. Do we have a government in Delhi or not? Do we have a Prime Minister?
As someone who was in Mumbai on the day the bombs went off and has been here ever since, I ask these questions not just on my own behalf but on behalf of the people I meet every day in this city. Like them I am beginning to worry about whether Dr Manmohan Singh's government is capable of defending us against the ''jehad'' that is being waged against us so successfully that if it continues unchecked, it could cause a civil war and worse.
Nearly 200 people were killed in the carnage on Mumbai's trains and the only response we have seen from the Government of India is a ludicrous attempt to censor the Internet and vague allegations against Pakistan. For a start this has to stop. Next time an Indian government wants to blame Pakistan for terrorism it should do so when it can provide us with evidence. Or we end up helping Pakistan instead of nailing it and, more importantly, we mislead Indians into believing that the problem we face is entirely the creation of a ubiquitous ''foreign hand''.
It is not. It is indigenous. It is a jehad being fought by homegrown terrorists and the sooner we come to terms with this the easier it will be to fight it. Having said this I have to sadly add that there is little chance of us winning if we continue to rely on governments in Delhi that have neither the understanding of how serious the problem is nor the courage to admit that Indian Muslims are becoming frighteningly influenced by the worldwide jehad and the sense that Islam has become the target of some international conspiracy.
Let me give you an example from Mumbai. When President Bush came to India, thousands and thousands of Mumbai's Muslims took to the streets to protest against his visit. Now, whatever objections we might have to the American President's role in West Asia, from an Indian viewpoint he has been terrific. In any case, what is interesting is why it is so easy to get hundreds of thousands of Muslims on to the streets against cartoons they have never seen and an American president, and so hard to get them out when 200 citizens of their city are killed for nothing.
Could it be an identification with the worldwide jehad? My fear is that it is and that it is being fuelled by our own politicians, who are mentally stuck in a time in which all that mattered was the Muslim vote. If they understood today's realities the Prime Minister would not have set up that commission under Justice Rajinder Sachar that is now asking courts to count the number of Muslim judges they have. It is the sort of commission that serves mainly to heighten the Muslim sense of alienation.
Why is the Prime Minister so keen on this kind of exercise? We have a right to know. Just as we have a right to know why his government does not realise how much it weakens India to view it constantly as a collection of castes and creeds instead of as a nation. One of our greatest achievements has been that in the past 20 years or so we have softened the boundaries of caste and creed and come together strongly as one people, one country. Dr Manmohan Singh's government seems determined to undo this.
The bombings in Mumbai are proof that we cannot any more run away from the reality of an indigenous jehad. At such a time, for a minister to demand a Muslim Pradesh is not just sick, it is an act of treason. What does the Prime Minister intend to do about this?

A team from Jalandhar-based Apeejay School has won the gold medal in a "Space Settlement Design Competition" organised by National Aeronautics and Space Administration at Houston in the US.

The 15-member team's achievement at the competition held during July 14-18 became known after Neeraj Kohli, the technical advisor of the team, sent a message to his parents at Solan in Himachal Pradesh.

"Planning a colony on Mars" was the theme of the project prepared by the Indian team, which competed with eight others from around the world. An Appejay alumnus, the 21-year Kohli is a final year student at J P University of Information Technology at Vaknaghat. The budding space scientist said in his message to his parents that he and his team worked very hard for days to earn this honour.

After winning the gold, the team was asked to stay on in the US by NASA till July 27. The team members will be acquainted with information regarding space technology. Kohli's elated father Balraj Sahni said he had always been very confident that his son would do well in the competition.

VACATIONS - ALONE

When you settle into doing the same ordinary things everyday, life becomes more or less mechanical. You get used to it, no matter how nice everything is. But eventually you will feel an inner prompting from the soul to get free from that stagnant routine of thought and activity. That is why vacations are good; they are necessary. Vacations on which you can be alone are wonderful. If you want to have a really beneficial vacation, arrange at least some time when you can be by yourself. Do not be with even your nearest and dearest during all of your vacation, because constant association with those who have their own mental ruts makes it more difficult to break out of your mechanical way of life.

REFORM MADRASSAS TO COUNTER TERROR, BY MAQBUL JAMIL

Maqbul Jamil

July 22, 2006

The proliferation of madrassas in India has been noted with particular consternation following the wave of terrorist attacks in Kashmir and elsewhere in India.

The perceived linkage between radical religious education and militant behaviour against secular interests has led a section of mainstream media and political establishment to label these institutions as dens of terror, repositories of medievalism, jihad factories, schools of hate and hatcheries for suicide bombers.

These criticisms may be true for some madrassas in a neighbouring country that served as de facto west-supported training grounds for jihadists fighting the occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Many of these religious fighters went on to become foot soldiers in later campaigns, including those against Jammu and Kashmir and against Shiite Muslims. They also helped forge the Taliban movement and gave succour and support to international terror networks.

From this record, some critics have put together a seemingly convincing chargesheet against madrassas across India. They extrapolate from this relatively small number of problem madrassas to conclude that all madrassas breed fanatics.

However, these criticisms do not apply for the majority of Indian madrassas.

The Indian madrassas actually present an opportunity, not a threat. It is understood that wherever the governments failed to provide general education to its common citizens, private religious establishments took the lead in filling this gap and administered the educational system according to their own principles.

In this context, a madrassa is similar to a parochial school for Roman Catholic children or the yeshiva for orthodox Jews. Although these institutions are academically assigned to provide general education, they also feel obliged to teach their students about the fundamentals of their religion.

For poor village kids, a madrassa education may be their only path to literacy. For many orphans and the young poor, madrassas provide indispensable social services: education and lodging for children who otherwise could well find themselves the victims of forced child labour, sex trafficking, or other abuse.

And for Indian policymakers, madrassas offer an important arena for public diplomacy - a chance to ensure that many Indian Muslims of tomorrow do not view the political establishment as an enemy inherently hostile to all Muslim institutions.

But a total denial of the madrassa problem is equally misguided.

The madrassa effect is real and visible. For good reason, madrassas in many parts of the country have come to represent much that is wrong with Muslim societies today. Such schools, for example, promote religious intolerance and encourage sectarian violence; and there is ample reason to fear that, in the long run, the fundamentalism emanating from madrassas and similar schools elsewhere in India will eventually threaten secular interests.

Due to administrative mishandling, radical political indoctrination of students and adopting a more conservative view of the simple religious teachings, the madrassas nowadays are frequently deemed as ideological and political training grounds for hatred against secularism. The heavy emphasis on religious teachings to the exclusion of more economically viable subject areas is simply wrong.

Madrassas are not a terrorism problem, per se.

And as part of a vital tradition of Muslim societies, many of them deserve our respect. Madrassas commit no actual crime by teaching only the Quran and Islamic law. After all, every religion has its version of faith-based schooling.

But it is easy to see how the local madrassa effect can have national reach - outdated school curricula offered by almost all madrassas means that these schools are at the very best graduating thousands of students unemployable outside the religious sector and hard-pressed to function in a globalised economy.

We all know that what India needs today is more science graduates (with less than eight per cent of college-going age group is enrolled in the college and university system).

It has been noted that official statistics about madrassas are sparse, government and media reports clash, and madrassa education is not monolithic.

Contrary to some media reports, only a small per cent of Muslim school age children are enrolled in traditional madrassas. Still, it is plain wrong to suggest that failing madrassas do not constitute a long-term threat to the secular polity of India, or that the government does not have an obligation to help fix them.

Rather than undermining the madrassa school system, policymakers should proactively engage it. Stereotyping and posturing may make for good media copy, but the reality of the madrassa system is very different: it is characterised by both orthodoxy and diversity and is host to a quiet debate about reform.

It is in the interest of the government and public good to ensure that the truly extremist madrassas are contained and apologists for terrorism duly prosecuted. But it is equally important for policymakers to pursue this goal carefully, by encouraging internal debate rather than demanding changes from above.

The financial commitment (public-private partnerships) to madrassa education-reform efforts will indicate how important these initiatives are to national interests. They should be viewed as necessary efforts in combating extremism, one of the hurdles for India achieving its destiny in the 21st century.

The main objective of the reform project should be to reduce the differences between madrassa and general education and produce skilled and productive citizens. It is imperative that we immediately update madrassa curriculum, improve textbooks, train madrassa teachers and science-minded madrassa students and help students achieve skills to face challenges in the real world.

Without reform and financial support, madrassas at best will continue to produce generations of graduates ill-suited to function in modern society and intolerant of other religious sects. At worst, those graduates will become misguided Wahhabi ideologues (Saudi and Gulf petro-money effect) or terrorists.

Regardless, the consequences are most certainly severe for the millions of poor Muslims in India.

A younger wife!

A married couple in their early 60s (man-62yr old, woman 60 yr old) were out celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant. Suddenly, a tiny, yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table and said, "For being such an exemplary married couple and for being faithful to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish."
"Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband" said the wife. The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! Two tickets for the Queen Mary II luxury liner appeared in her hands. Then it was the husband's turn. He thought for a moment and said: "Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me."

The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a
wish...So the fairy waved her magic wand and - poof!

The husband became 92 years old.

Men should remember...fairies are female..

VOICE FROM MALAYSIA on DESTRUCTION OF HINDU TEMPLES

1. Malaysian Political Scientist Speaks Out about the Destruction of Hindu Temples

malaysiahinduvoice@gmail.com

MALAYSIA, July 3, 2006: In this news piece sent by the Malaysian Hindu Voice, Dr. Farish A. Noor, a Malaysian political scientist and human rights activist, speaks out against the recent demolition of Hindu temples in Malaysia. He notes that because of globalization the Hindu community is connected with others worldwide and, as a result, Hindu organizations in Europe and other parts of the world have appealed to the Malaysian government and the prime minister to do something to stop the march of the bulldozers. Dr. Noor declares, "The bottom line is that the Hindu temples of Malaysia are and have always been part of the Malaysian cultural landscape. Hinduism is one of the Malaysian faiths. It has been rooted in the culture of Southeast Asia for more than 2,000 years. If anything, its long historical embeddedness shows that it deserves more than a token mention in the history books. Most importantly it has to be remembered that in the constitution of the Malaysian nation and its identity, Hinduism is not something ulterior, alien or foreign to the country. The Hindu temples of Malaysia are part of the things that make Malaysia what it is. For that reason Malaysians of all races and religions should decry the demolition of these buildings as destruction of their culture. Those temples are not from Mars or another world: they are Malaysian, down to their foundations."

TIME RIPE FOR ISLAMIC AWAKENING

Time ripe for Islamic awakening
Dr M Iqtedar Husain Farooqi
Lucknow, July 21, 2006

Renaissance may be defined as the renewal, resurgence, revival or rebirth of a society or a nation. In this context, Islamic renaissance does not mean only the resurgence but also the scientific and intellectual growth of Muslim Ummah. Only this can help the Ummah from shedding their sense of inferiority in today's intellectually (scientifically) advanced society.

Muslims cannot fulfil their mandate as Allah's representatives on earth (Quran 2:30) without acquiring knowledge of Allah's earth.

Christianity came out from the dark ages only due to European Renaissance, which was actually a revolution based on science and technology. It also saw the end of priesthood and supremacy of the church in worldly affairs. It is because of the renaissance that Christianity took the path of rationalism, economic prosperity, scientific temper and freedom of speech.

In contrast, Muslims of middle ages abandoned all these paths after following them for about a thousand years during golden period of their history.

Muslims can only regain past glory, if they adopt renaissance similar to European renaissance, more vigorously and faster than done by Europe. But before this is done Muslims have to condemn and reject forces of extremism and promote true Islamic values of tolerance and moderation.

Life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the best and ideal example for the Muslims to follow his dictates for tolerance, compassion and love. The most positive aspect of European renaissance/Western civilisation was that it was constantly evolving and providing incentives to create, develops and makes progress in every walk of life. These were the main features of Islamic society till sixteenth century when the tables turned and Europe followed what Muslims practiced in the past but abandoned.

Dr Hans Koechler (University of Innsbruck/Austria) in his article on Christian-Muslim Relation has rightly stated, "It is a historical fact that the shaping of a genuine European intellectual life in the middle ages was the result of the flourishing Islamic civilisation in Spain…. Europe's encounter with Islamic civilisation enabled it to develop its skills in all scholarly and scientific fields". (seminar, Kuala Lumpur, 1999).

Mr BA Mahmud is right when he says "There is no denying the fact that the Muslim communities will have to make all out efforts for acquisition of knowledge in science and technology, the gap with developed world is very wide, and the task is uphill and there is no way out except through hard work and concerted and dedicated efforts."

Today the Muslim world is facing the most critical era of its history. Poverty, illiteracy, irrational behaviour, sectarian prejudices and indifference to scientific pursuit are the main ingredients of the declining Islamic society. Add to this, the extremists have hijacked religion.

Recent meetings of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) have repeatedly appealed to Muslim Ummah to "promote tolerance and reject extremism". What Muslims need today is not the traditional Islam but Islam based on the ecstatic mysticism of universal love on one hand and on the other scientific approach to worldly problems.

In the well known Islamabad Declaration of OIC, it's standing committee called upon all Muslims, men and women, "to acquire and assimilate scientific knowledge to re-kindle the flame of inquiry and innovation (Ijtihad) in the Muslim Ummah and to harness science and technology for the good of mankind, within the value framework of Islam "The conference urged 'all Muslims to work for the transformation of the Ummah into an enlightened, scientifically creative and innovative society' and stated that 'scientific renaissance constitutes an essential element in Islamic resurgence'".

In the opinion of the said standing committee "the revival of science in the Muslim world rests on the building up of efficient national S&T systems and the unity, solidarity and cooperation among Islamic countries".

The OIC appealed to Islamic countries to develop the educational, cultural, political and social climate congenial to scientific activity and identify, train and utilise gifted and creative individuals for scientific work by providing them with an environment conducive to freedom of thought and initiative.

This Islamabad Declaration articulates the commitment of the OIC member states for achieving modernisation, self-reliance, self-sufficiency, security and harmonious development through a sustained and extensive effort in science and technology.

The appeal of OIC does not holds good only to Islamic countries but also to all groups of people and individual Muslims too.

It is very sad that presently quest of knowledge receives a very low priority in Muslim countries.

Under the Islamic renaissance, the vision and mission of Sir Syed has to be followed and adopted. Aligarh Movement for the propagation of science and scientific temper has to be transformed into the Islamic fikr (thought) throughout the Islamic world.

Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (IESCO) has recently urged all the Muslim countries to allocate higher percentage of their Gross Domestic Product for Research and Development in their respective countries. Presently it is only 0.1 per cent, which should be raised to 3 per cent, as is the practice in the west.

There is only one Islam i.e. Islam for peace and not, as propagated by the west, radical Islam, fundamentalist Islam or militant Islam. Islam is portrayed in the west as the impediment for the development of science and technology and also the hurdle for the spread of democratic values. Islam is also projected as the threat for peace. This is far from the truth. In fact Islam demands Muslims to acquire knowledge and newer ideas for reforming the society.

Islamic history till the sixteenth century AD is the example for this basic truth.

Yes, it is Almiyah (tragedy) that Muslims themselves have forgotten Quranic and prophetic injunctions about acquiring knowledge.

July 21, 2006
There has been considerable disappointment in India over what is perceived as the continuing US reluctance to act against Pakistan for using terrorism against India.

The negative attitude of President Bush and the US State Department in the wake of the Mumbai blasts of July 11 is nothing new. Protection of Pakistan from the consequences of its wrong-doing against India has been a consistent element in US policy-making towards India and Pakistan ever since our independence in 1947 -- whichever party was in power in Washington, DC.

To illustrate this, I am giving below instances, which were within my personal knowledge as an officer of the Intelligence Bureau from July 1967 to September 1968, and of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) from September 1968 to August 31, 1994:

The Sino-Indian war of 1962 brought out the serious inadequacies in the IB's capability for the collection of technical intelligence about China. After obtaining then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's approval, the IB sought the assistance of US intelligence for strengthening its TECHINT capability.

US intelligence, with the approval of John F Kennedy, then the US president, agreed to supply the required equipment and train IB officers who would be using this equipment. However, it imposed a condition that this equipment would be used only for the collection of TECHINT from China and not from Pakistan. When R&AW was formed in September 1968, with the late Rameshwar Nath Kao as its head, the division handling this equipment was transferred to R&AW.

In the 1970s, Kao visited Washington, DC at the invitation of the then director of the Central Intelligence Agency to discuss Indo-US intelligence cooperation.

Some years later, Kao told me that during his discussions in Washington DC, the CIA chief told him as follows: 'Ramji, we all cheat in this profession. I know R&AW will cheat and use the equipment given by us for the collection of TECHINT about Pakistan. Make sure our State Department does not come to know of it. If it does, the State Department will demand that we cancel our cooperation with you and withdraw from you the equipment given by us. I will have to do this.'

Between 1981 and 1984, Khalistani terrorists hijacked a number of Indian Airlines aircraft to Lahore. When one of these aircraft landed in Lahore, Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence found the hijackers had no weapons.

They had intimidated the pilot into flying to Lahore by claiming that they had a weapon which they would use if he did not obey their instructions. The ISI gave the hijackers a German-made revolver. They used that revolver to intimidate the pilot to take the plane to Dubai. The Dubai authorities terminated the hijacking, seized the revolver from the hijackers and handed it over to the Indian authorities.

R&AW sought the assistance of the then West German intelligence to find out who this revolver was sold to by the German company that had manufactured it. After making enquiries, the West German intelligence replied that the revolver seized by the Dubai authorities from the Khalistani hijackers was part of a consignment sold by the West German company to the Pakistan army.

The State Department was not prepared to accept this as adequate proof of Pakistani sponsorship of terrorism against India.

After the Khalistanis took to terrorism in 1981 with the ISI's assistance, the IB and R&AW collected a lot of intelligence regarding ISI training camps in Pakistani Punjab for the terrorists, the arms and ammunition supplied by the ISI to the terrorists etc.

Whenever we produced this intelligence before the US authorities and requested them to act against Pakistan, they would reject it on the ground that the intelligence was gathered during interrogation of suspects, who must have been tortured by the Indian police.

When we produced technical intercepts, they would reject them on the ground that it was difficult to prove their authenticity.

After the blowing up of Air India's Kanishka off the Irish coast on June 23, 1985, Western intelligence agencies got worried over the activities of the Khalistani terrorists. Many of them started monitoring the activities of the terrorists. They collected valuable technical intelligence regarding the ISI's assistance to the terrorists.

One Western agency even collected intelligence that the ISI had given shelter in Pakistani territory to Talwinder Singh Parmar, the leader of the Babbar Khalsa in Canada, who was actively involved in blowing-up the Kanishka.

These agencies (not those of the US) shared with R&AW all the intelligence collected by them about the links between the ISI and Khalistani terrorists. I was asked to visit the headquarters of these intelligence agencies, meet my counterparts and request them to share with the CIA the intelligence collected by them regarding the Pakistani sponsorship of terrorism.

I did so, and told my counterparts: "Look, I have not been able to convince the CIA about the Pakistani sponsorship. Every time I produce any intelligence, the CIA rejects it on some ground or the other. You have collected your own independent intelligence. If you share it with the CIA, it would find it difficult to reject it."

All my interlocutors gave me identical replies: "We know the CIA has more intelligence regarding the Pakistani sponsorship of terrorism against India than all of us together have. The CIA was convinced a long time ago about the ISI's sponsorship of terrorism. The problem is not with the CIA. It is with the State Department, which does not want to act against Pakistan."

In the early 1990s, Lal Singh alias Manjit Singh of the International Sikh Youth Federation clandestinely came to India from Pakistan. The Gujarat police arrested him. He was wanted in a number of cases in India, the US and Canada.

I informed my counterparts in the Canadian and US intelligence that they could send their officers to interrogating him. I assured them that no Indian officer would be present during the interrogation. The Canadians availed of the offer and sent a police officer to interrogate him. The US agencies decided not to avail of the offer.

I came to understand later that the State Department advised them not to send anybody to interrogate him. It was apparently afraid that if Lal Singh gave the US interrogator details of the ISI's role, it would find it difficult to reject his evidence as possibly obtained through torture.

In 1992, under the instructions of (then prime minister P V) Narasimha Rao, the IB, R&AW and the ministry of home affairs mounted a coordinated campaign to make the international community and US political and public opinion aware of the Pakistani sponsorship of terrorism against India.

The IB and R&AW prepared a detailed dossier giving details of all the evidence collected by them against the ISI. A team consisting of two officers of the home ministry and one from the IB was sent to Washington to hand over copies of this dossier to the US authorities and request them to declare Pakistan as a State sponsor of terrorism.

After doing so, they also presented the dossier at a press conference at the Washington Press Club. The State Department summarily rejected the dossier.

In 1992, terrorists belonging to the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front attacked a group of young Israeli tourists, who had gone to J&K. They killed one of them and kidnapped another, who was subsequently released. Following this incident, Jewish circles started criticising the unsympathetic attitude of the US towards India's complaints against Pakistan.

Just before the presidential elections of November 1992, President George H W Bush, the father of the present president, reportedly ordered a second look at the dossier against Pakistan submitted by India.

The officials, who did so, reportedly recommended that instead of declaring Pakistan a State sponsor of terrorism, it could be placed in a list of suspected State sponsors of terrorism. Bush, who lost the election to Bill Clinton, did not act on the recommendation. He left the decision to his successor.

After assuming office in January 1993, Clinton placed Pakistan on a list of suspected State sponsors of terrorism. The weighty nature of the Indian dossier played a role in this decision, but there was a more important reason. The CIA had developed a strong dislike of Lieutenant General Javed Nasir, the then director general, ISI, for not cooperating with a drive launched by it to persuade the Afghan mujahideen to sell back to the US their unused stock of Stinger missiles, given to them for use against Soviet troops.

The US used the Indian dossier to force then prime minister Nawaz Sharif to remove Javed Nasir and some other ISI officers, whom it looked upon as uncooperative in its efforts to buy back the Stinger missiles. Nawaz Sharif complied.

Benazir Bhutto, who was then the leader of the Opposition, rang up Peter Galbraith, son of former the US ambassador to India J K Galbraith, and some other university mates of hers, who were close friends of Clinton, to request them to see that Pakistan was not declared a State sponsor of terrorism.

She told them she expected elections to be held in Pakistan later that year and that she was confident of coming back to power. She assured them that if she came back as prime minister, she would stop the ISI's use of terrorism against India.

In July 1993, Warren Christopher, the then secretary of state, announced that the US had decided to remove Pakistan from the list of suspected State sponsors of terrorism for want of adequate evidence. Benazir Bhutto won the elections in October 1993, and returned as prime minister. But she did not ask the ISI to stop the use of terrorism against India. R&AW must have in its archives the transcripts of Bhutto's telephonic conversations with Peter Galbraith and others.

During the investigations into the serial blasts of March 12, 1993 in Mumbai, the IB and R&AW collected the following evidence regarding the involvement of the ISI:

* Photocopies of the manifests of the Pakistan International Airlines regarding the travel of the perpetrators from Dubai to Karachi for training and their return to Dubai after the training;
* Their traveling with visas on plain sheets of paper issued by the Pakistani consulate in Dubai so that their Indian passports did not carry any entry of their visit to Pakistan;
* Evidence of their being received at Karachi airport and driven directly from the tarmac into the city without having to pass through immigration; statements of the perpetrators in which they gave the details of the training and arms and ammunition given to them by the ISI;
*
Evidence that they fled to Karachi via Dubai or Kathmandu after the blasts and from there were taken to Bangkok and kept there for a month by the ISI.

All this evidence was rejected by the US as falling short of proving Pakistani complicity.

The police recovered from the blast site some hand grenades of Austrian design and a timer. Austrian experts flew to New Delhi, examined the hand-grenades and certified in writing that these grenades were of Austrian design and had been manufactured in a Pakistani government ordnance factory with technology and machine tools sold by an Austrian company to the Pakistan government.

They said the Government of India could use their report for any purpose it desired.

American counter-terrorism experts, who visited Mumbai at our invitation, saw the timer and said that it looked like timers manufactured in the US. They wanted to take it to the US for forensic examination. They promised they would return it after the examination. I agreed to it.

After some days, they sent me an unsigned report on a plain piece of paper that the timer had been manufactured in the US and was part of a consignment given by the US to Pakistan in the 1980s.

I pointed out this was the smoking gun which they had been asking for and said they should now be able to declare Pakistan a State sponsor of terrorism.

They said this was not sufficient evidence against the government of Pakistan. They claimed that there were instances of leakage of arms and ammunition from Pakistan government stocks into the hands of arms smugglers and contended that the terrorists could have procured it in the smugglers market. They also said their report could not be used by us in a court of law.

When I asked them to return the timer, they claimed their forensic laboratory had destroyed the timer by mistake and that they were taking action against the lab for negligence.

After my retirement, I used to narrate to Kao and others how the Americans cheated me by destroying the timer. Once, Kao asked: "How were you so naive in trusting them and handing over the timer to them? One should never trust the US in matters concerning Pakistan. The US will never act against Pakistan for anything it does to India."

This is as valid today as it was in the past.
